The lucky frog, popular since the 1980s, has been a must-have souvenir for Lonely Planet travelers visiting Oaxaca city. Nowadays, it is less common, but the Xuana family still produces the traditional flowered type. Frogs/Ranas are seen as symbols of rain and a bountiful harvest, with the more frogs signifying more rain and hence, more corn. This unique piece is a timeless classic.
