Buey Cubi, the original John Deer, are Zapotec Oxen. In rural Oaxaca, these oxen are considered the largest and strongest of all domesticated animals. What sets this particular carving apart is the ixtle fiber tail that elegantly coils around its side. It is intricately handcrafted using traditional materials handed down through generations. The meticulous artistry showcases the exceptional skill of the creator and honors the rich heritage of the region.
