Burnt orange colored Dragonea, wings on fire with bright blue flames, and decorated with ear-trumpets, horns, and a curving tail, this exceptional Avelino carving is just as one-of-a-kind as the dragon it depicts. In 1927, one dictionary still considered dragons to be real but uncommon: A massive snake or serpent (now scarce); a fantastical beast depicted in various ways, often as a giant winged reptile with a crowned head and formidable talons, and occasionally as spewing out flames.
